The Chester Upland Fund for Excellence supplements public efforts with private support, enabling the Chester Upland School District to provide a high quality public education to all of its Pre-K through 12th grade students. Because current public funding for school districts is tight, there is a limit to how far each district can stretch these dollars. The private funds raised by the Chester Upland Fund for Excellence allow the District to provide the crucial extras that would otherwise be unavailable, thus giving our students the competitive advantage all students deserve.
The funds we raise are used in the following ways:
Grants enable district educators to implement innovative student projects and programs; provide enrichment opportunities such as field trips; attend professional development seminars; and/or purchase equipment that enhances learning. Grant applications that are aligned with the CUSD Recovery Plan and the mission and values of the Chester Upland Fund for Excellence are accepted throughout the year.
Scholarships are awards of financial aid for graduating seniors to further their education. The Chester Upland Fund for Excellence scholarships support students who plan to further their education in a college, trade or professional school. The students selected should demonstrate substantial talent and deep interest in a particular area of study.
Building and Grounds Repairs
The Fund for Excellence provides financial support for specific building and grounds repair projects. All project applications are evaluated by the Fund for Excellence board.
Each year the Chester Upland School District selects outstanding teachers from each school and recognizes them in a special celebration. The Fund for Excellence awards all winning teachers with a cash incentive to be used in support of their classroom activities.
